Brett Harvey is a writer & director based in Cornwall. His debut feature film Weekend Retreat won multiple awards including Best Director at the London Independent Film Festival and his second feature Brown Willy (described by The New Statesman as “Cornwall’s answer to Withnail and I”) won the Golden Chough at the Cornwall Film Festival. His third feature Long Way Back was released into cinemas in 2022 and won Best Feature at the Wales International Film Festival.

He’s made various award winning shorts including HAND a film documenting his diagnosis with young onset Parkinson’s disease. He’s a member of BBC Writersroom Cornish Voices and is currently developing his next feature film Full Stops Not Tadpoles with support from o-region, Screen Cornwall and Cultivator.

Documentary work includes BTS filming with Lucasfilm and Pinewood on Rogue One, Solo and Andor season 2. Promo work includes social media campaigns for the Tate and a TV advert for Worlds apart. For music videos he’s worked with Black Books, Emily Barker, Orbital, Three Cane Whale, Hedluv + Passman, Sarah McQuaid and Phil King.

For theatre he’s made films for o-region, Wise Children, Kneehigh, Theatre Alibi, Cscape Dance, Theatre Royal Plymouth, Hall For Cornwall, Bristol Old Vic, Owdyado, Miracle, Trifle Gathering, Little Angel and the Curious School of Puppetry.
